Care of the e-bike: daily checks and workshop assistance

An e-bike requires attention both to the bicycle and to the instructions of its electrical system. It distinguishes the controls used by the interventions to be entrusted to the assistance.

The starting point is the manual of your model

Frame make, service system, battery and components identify the relevant instructions. Do not automatically transfer maintenance procedures, pressures or intervals from another bike.

Keep template, references and useful documents. If you contact the workshop, indicate the system mounted and describe the problem: a precise error message is more useful than

Before exit: observe without improvising repairs

Visually check tires, wheels and components, and check the controls according to manufacturer's instructions. New noises, abnormal play, damage or unusual brake response require an assessment before continuing to use the bike.

Do not use a general guide to choose clamping values or modify components. The official CUBE support, for example, refers to the indications of individual components and model geometries for compatibility checks.

Cleaning: also protect electrical components

Official indications Trek/Electra recommend avoiding high pressure water jets on electrical components and following the manufacturer's instructions for battery care. Before cleaning your model, consult the installed system manual.

If you have doubts about a detergent product or a procedure, ask for confirmation. Cleaning more vigorously does not necessarily mean cleaning better.

Battery and charging: use specific instructions

Use the charger provided by the manufacturer and comply with the instructions on charging and storage. Do not open the battery or try to repair the electrical system internally.

If you notice damage or abnormal behavior, stop using it and ask for assistance. Do not try to solve an electrical problem by applying general procedures found for another system.

Prepare your request to the workshop

Note when the problem appears, any messages on the display, recent interventions and useful photographs. If available, bring the purchase documents and documentation of previous interventions.

DoctorGarage can help you collect your notes; however, a personal note does not correspond to a check made by the workshop or a confirmed booking. Always agree on how and when to assist.
