Start from the routes you will really do, not only from the name of the category. This guide helps you prepare a comparison between gravel, road bike endurance and trekking.
Describe a real week
Before comparing chassis and equipment, note the type of outputs you imagine: daily journey, asphalt on weekends, sliding dirt roads, luggage travel or a combination. Add output duration, frequency and how you would like to transport your bike.
Separate main and occasional use helps you choose. A hypothetical vacation doesn't necessarily have to drive all purchases, while a journey traveled every day deserves attention.

If you spend many hours riding, consider how you feel on your bike and if the fit is suitable. The color and a more prestigious component do not compensate for a wrong size choice. Do not automatically transfer the size of your old bike to another brand.
